Why 1 Corinthians 1:26-29?

First and foremost, I'm a Christian, a follower of Jesus.

It's my favorite Bible verse because I'm not wise by the world's standards, influential, or strong, and definitely not the smartest.

But I want to be able to show God's grace through my work and glorify Him with everything I do. This verse reminds me that if I do everything with all my heart and for God, He will use my work for His plan.

Who are you?

I'm currently a Site Reliability Engineer at an Indonesian AI startup. I've loved computer stuff since I was a kid, and I did a lot of self-hosting, including the mandatory Minecraft server hosting.

I used to hate programming back in university and almost dropped out because of it. But, back in 2024 I found out about Elixir and fell in love immediately. So basically, it's a language ¹ issue.

Currently I'm also learning OCaml because I kinda want to understand type stuff better. It's mostly because I hang out with folks who really care about it, and I'm interested because of their enthusiasm.

For now, my end goal is to be a performance engineer like Brendan Gregg because I find the most joy in optimizing and making existing stuff better and more efficient rather than creating something new. (subject to change)
